A specialist private teacher training college that started with 12 eager students, 1 motivated tutor and 1 visionary leader. Glennie Oborn identified the need for formal early childhood teacher training 40 years ago and to date, the college has supported over 11,000 graduates.
In 2022, we celebrate 40 years of empowering students to care, educate and serve meaningfully and effectively by providing comprehensive and professional programs through our college values of grand Vision, caring Hearts, Competence-plus and infectious Spirit.
Each day we support early childhood educators and healthcare assistants with study programs as they gift into the early childhood and healthcare professions in New Zealand and across the globe.
“For the last 24 years, I have been grateful for the vision put into action from that first day in 1982 and the difference it has made in my life and the lives of all who NZTC has touched,” said NZTC Chief Executive Selena Fox.
“40 years of history records many significant achievements which laid foundations for the possibilities and endeavours of today. 40 years of history shares stories of impact in the lives of NZTC team members, their families, students, graduates and our communities. It gives us learning, development, foundations of experience, and strength. It gives us opportunity to hold to our mission and values as we look back and then forward, even in the unsettled world we find ourselves living in today,” shared Fox.
Throughout the year, the college will be remembering, reflecting, and celebrating the last 40 years in many different ways. Celebrations will be shared with our team members, students, graduates, sectors, and communities. We look forward to sharing an array of initiatives as the year unfolds.
