NZTC awarded NZQA Category 1 status

A recent external evaluation and review process undertaken by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) has determined New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) to be a Category One provider for the fourth consecutive time.

The results of the four yearly performance quality review have concluded that NZQA is ‘Highly Confident in Educational Performance’ and ‘Highly Confident in Self-Assessment’ at NZTC.

Early Childhood Education and Health & Wellbeing study programs were included in the process with NZQA commenting, “Student achievement rates are high across all focus areas. Outcomes are also highly positive.”

Success of the college’s flexible workplace learning options were acknowledged by the government organisation, as well as the culture of proactive management and early intervention to ensure students are well supported throughout their learning journey.

“NZTC is delivering high value programmes that effectively link components of theory and practice for stakeholders and students. Research and strong self-assessment systems underpin ongoing improvements,” says NZQA.

Chief Executive Selena Fox, who has been leading the college for nearly twenty years, is ecstatic but not surprised by the findings.

“To receive such positive acknowledgment in our 40th anniversary year shows strength of history, experience, and expertise, balanced with forward thinking, to continue to meet the needs of our sectors as we navigate changes.

“Our leading of learning access and reach with a focus on quality curriculums, pastoral support and supportive processes college-wide, collectively works to enable our students to achieve their goals.”
